Apply for a marker
Every historic home tells a story. Applying for an APTA historic marker is a meaningful way to ensure your home’s history is preserved and shared for generations to come.
The Rutherford County APTA researches and recognizes qualifying historic homes through the placement of official historic markers. These markers honor the people, events, and craftsmanship connected to your property without placing restrictions on ownership or use.
The $500 marker fee covers the cost of producing the sign and installation. By applying for a marker, you help ensure that your home’s story becomes part of Rutherford County’s shared history.
If you believe your home has historic significance and you are a APTA Rutherford member in good standing, we invite you to apply and become part of our living history. You may also nominate and sponsor a marker for another historic home or structure. Fill out the short online submission form below and we will determine if your structure is a good fit to be marked. You will hear from us by email once you’ve been approved and we will send you a link to make payment and assist you with the historical research of your home or structure.
