Sandra Campbell
President
Sandra Campbell is a community volunteer and independent researcher with a strong interest in local and regional history. She holds a B.S. in Historic Preservation and a Graduate Certificate in Archival Studies.
Sandra serves as President of the Rutherford County Chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities and as Treasurer of the Society of Tennessee Archivists, where she fully supports the activities of each organization.
Professionally, she works at Middle Tennessee State University in the Procurement Logistics Services office, where she helps departments navigate university policies and procedures.
She especially enjoys discovering the stories tucked away in local archives, historic sites, and community records that bring Tennessee’s past to life.
In her free time, Sandra enjoys exploring Tennessee’s history firsthand. Her hobbies include baking, gardening, playing music, and traveling to every county seat in Tennessee to learn about and experience the people, places, and unique stories each county has to offer.

Retired Physical Therapist, Rutherford County native, childhood home at Cannonsburgh, loves traveling to historic sites.

Civil War historian, author, lecturer, former WQJZ radio host of “Murfreesboro History 101.” Retired from Middle Tennessee State University. Rutherford County native, a six generation descendant of First Families of Rutherford County. Member of APTA for over 35 years, past president, and current board member

Lacey Garrett
Secretary
Lacey Garrett is a creative entrepreneur and advocate for preserving Rutherford County's history. She co-owns Garage Barre + Bike, a boutique fitness studio on Murfreesboro's historic square.
A longtime lover of historic homes, Lacey has owned three in downtown Murfreesboro. Her passion for architecture, preservation, and genealogy drives her commitment to protecting Middle Tennessee’s heritage.
Before business ownership, she toured as a backup singer for Engelbert Humperdinck, shaping her love for storytelling and connection.
Lacey is married to Kirk Garrett, a ninth-generation Middle Tennessean with deep roots, including former Governor Newton Cannon. They enjoy exploring history and restoring historic spaces.
